What brings you energy?
Flowers. Swimming, singing, and studio visits. Water honey peaches and watermelon juice. My Melody, the cutest Sanrio character! Contemporary pop culture in all its forms.
What makes you shy?
I'm no longer shy.
Tell us about and art work or occurrence that you were most interested in or excited by this past year.
This is a hard question! I wish I could recommend all sorts of artwork I saw this year, but I feel like contemporary art did not respond well to the pandemic.
This year I was excited by mainstream pop cultural events instead. With so much social distancing, I found mainstream pop culture more appealing than before, because it gave us something to gather around. The Tokyo Olympics, the Met Gala, NYFW. I loved Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton's FW21 collections and it was exciting to see how fashion designers responded to the pandemic! I missed the Emmys because I was at dinner with friends, but I would have loved to see that too. Before the pandemic, I wouldn't have had access to most of this, but this year I watched the Tokyo Olympics at my parent's apartment and the Met Gala was live-streamed for the first time. It made me feel connected to wider social communities again.
