Zodiac FanFic: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Gemini
Bethany Tabor
If the zodiac wheel were a house, of its 12 rooms Gemini would occupy the sunroom: warm, social, and full of light.
But eclipse season is occurring here, and it’s a brutal wake up call. Like rain on a wedding day, the Moon will cast a shadow over the Sun (June 10) and the once-bright sunroom will be a cloudy space for holding the contradictions we might otherwise ignore. The Luminaries dispute over the value and purpose of a quest: is it better to make time for self-inquiry, or should that energy be used for a more selfless and world-oriented exploration? The answer lies in changing the question altogether.
Before this conflict breaks out, though, the house is fraught with Mercury’s backtracking retrograde (May 29). He and Venus had been gossiping, scheming, walking arm-in-arm before they parted ways as he turned back and Venus made her way into Cancer (June 2). She’s now luxuriating, fantasizing, occasionally crying, and encouraging us to get into our Sad Girl feelings this month.
Tensions rise in the zodiacal hype house during the eclipse and feelings abound while Neptune counsels Mars through his last days in Cancer (June 1). And Mars needs it. After the drama of the eclipse, the warrior’s ingress into Leo (June 11) is where he’ll find himself again.
The finale to this astrological fever dream is an unnerving revelation between Saturn and Uranus (June 14). Their clandestine chat is a meeting of the minds that leaves those of us on Earth feeling uncomfortable, but pushing us forward to better realities through hard decisions.
The ultimate lesson: it’s not what kind of quest is better than another, but rather how to make time and space for more than one to take place in tandem.
